فريق جامعة البلمند للسباقات يتأهّل إلى مسابقة Formula Student 2025
يسرّ جامعة البلمند الاعلان عن تأهّل فريق جامعة البلمند للسباقات (BRT) إلى مسابقة فورميولا الطلابية Formula Student 2025 في فئة فورميولا Student Class، حيث تمّ اختيار فريق BRT وهو الفريق اللبناني الوحيد الذي تأهّل والفريق الوحيد الذي قدّم طلبًا شخصيًا، من بين 94 فريقًا من جميع أنحاء العالم، ما يُعتبر عاملاً ايجابيًا ومشجّعًا للابتكار في مجال رياضة السيارات في المنطقة.
Formula Student، التي تنظّمها مؤسّسة المهندسين الميكانيكيّين (IMechE) في المملكة المتّحدة ومنظّمات دولية أخرى، هي مسابقة هندسية مُعترف بها عالميًا، تدفع طلاب الجامعات لتصميم وبناء سيارات سباق صغيرة على طراز الفورميولا. لا تقيّم هذه المسابقة التميّز الفنّي فحسب، بل تقيّم أيضًا قدرات الطلاب في وضع الاستراتيجيات، إدارة المشاريع، والعمل الجماعي.
إنّ الهدف الرئيسي للفريق كان المشاركة في Formula Student المملكة المتّحدة (FSUK)، مع عدد من البدائل مثل ATA Italy وFS Germany، وهي جميعها مسابقات ذات أهمية بالغة ضمن سلسلة Formula Student.
تمّ دعم هذه المبادرة بشكل فوري خلال إجتماع عُقد في 15 تشرين الاول 2024 مع رئيس جامعة البلمند الدكتور الياس وراق ونائب الرئيس وعميد كلية الهندسة في الجامعة البروفيسور رامي عبود. خلال الاجتماع، قدّم قادة الفريق وطالبا قسم الهندسة الميكانيكية، حنا لقيس وأمير أبي عز الدين مع المشرف على المشروع الدكتور شوقي لحود (أستاذ مساعد في قسم الهندسة الميكانيكية)، رؤيتهم للمشروع، وقد أكسبهم تفانيهم وخبرتهم الدعم الكامل من الجامعة، والثقة للمضي قدمًا.
وفقًا لقواعد المسابقة، يجب على المشاركين إعداد سيّارة متميّزة الأداء بالإضافة إلى عرض التصميم، وخطّة العمل، واستراتيجية إدارة المشروع أمام لجنة التحكيم. يتمّ تقسيم المسابقة إلى فئات مختلفة، بما في ذلك المعايير الثابتة مثل التصميم والتكلفة، والمعايير الديناميكية التي تشمل إختبارات السرعة، حلبة الانزلاق، عملية السباق، واختبارات التحمّل. يتم تقييم الفرق بناءً على أدائهم للمعايير الثابتة والديناميكية مع التركيز على أساليب الإبداع، والتفوّق الهندسي، والعمل الجماعي. تتيح Formula Student فرصة فريدة للطلاب لتطبيق معرفتهم النظرية في العالم الملموس، ما يهيّئهم لمهنهم المستقبلية في صناعة السيارات وعالم الهندسة، حيث أنّ الخبرة المُكتسبة من هذه المسابقة تلعب دورًا أساسيًا في تشجيع الجيل الجديد من المهندسين والمبتكرين في مجال رياضة السيارات.
دخل فريق BRT الآن مرحلة تطوير سيّارتهم الخاصة، حيث تمّ اختيار الرقم 37 كرقم لسيارتهم، وذلك احتفالًا بالذكرى السابعة والثلاثين لتأسيس جامعة البلمند، وذلك بفريق مكوّن من حوالي 25 طالب نشيط من برامج الهندسة الميكانيكية، والطيران، والكهرباء (من برامج البكالوريوس في العلوم والبكالوريوس في الهندسة) في كلية الهندسة.
وقد هنّأ نائب رئيس جامعة البلمند للعلاقات الدولية والشؤون المحلية وعميد كلية الهندسة في الجامعة البروفسور رامي عبود، كل من أمير وحنا والمشرف عليهما على هذا الانجاز البارز، قائلاً: “إن كلّية الهندسة، ولبنان بأسره، يتطلّعان لرؤية تقدّم هذا الفريق المستمرّ وتحقيق أهدافه. كما وتعلن جامعة البلمند عن دعمها المطلق للفريق في هذه المسابقة المميّزة، ما يلعب دورًا أساسيًا في تحفيز الأجيال القادمة من المهندسين والمبتكرين”.
Balamand Racing Team Secures Prestigious Spot in Formula Student 2025 Competition
February 4, 2025: The University of Balamand Racing Team (BRT) has officially secured a place in the Formula Student 2025 competition in the Formula Student Class. Among 94 teams selected from all over the world, BRT stands as the only Lebanese team to be accepted and the only team to apply in person, marking a significant achievement for motorsports innovation in the region.
Formula Student, organized by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) in the UK and other international organizations, is a globally recognized engineering competition that challenges university students to design, build and race small formula-style race cars. The competition evaluates not only technical excellence but also students’ capabilities in business strategy, project management, and team work.
The team’s primary focus was to participate in Formula Student UK (FSUK), with potential alternatives including ATA Italy and FS Germany – all highly regarded within the Formula Student series. This achievement was instantly supported during a meeting held on October 15th with University President Dr. Elias Warrak and Vice President and Dean of the Faculty of Engineering Prof. Rami Abboud. During the meeting, team leaders Hanna Lakkiss and Ameer Abi Ezzeddine, both Mechanical Engineering students, along with their advisor Dr. Chawki Lahoud (Assistant Professor at the Mechanical Engineering Department), presented their vision for the project. Their dedication and expertise earned them full institutional support, granting the team the green light to move forward.
According to the competition rules, participants must not only construct a high-performance vehicle but also present their design, business plan, and project management strategy to a panel of judges. The competition is divided into various categories, including static events -such as design and cost presentations- and dynamic events, which include acceleration, skid pad, autocross, and endurance tests. Teams are scored based on their performance in both static and dynamic events, with an emphasis on creativity, engineering excellence, and teamwork. Formula Student provides a unique opportunity for students to apply theoretical knowledge in real-world scenarios, preparing them for future careers in the automotive and engineering industries. The experience gained from this competition is instrumental in shaping the next generation of engineers and innovators in motorsports.
With a team of around 25 highly motivated students from Mechanical, Aeronautical, and Electrical Engineering programs (BS and BE tracks) at the Faculty of Engineering, BRT has now entered the development phase of their own race car, with the number 37 proudly chosen as their car number to commemorate the University of Balamand’s 37th anniversary.
Vice President for Internationalization and Engagement and Dean of the Faculty of Engineering Prof. Rami Abboud expressed his heartfelt congratulations to both Ameer, Hanna as well as their advisor for this remarkable success stating: “The Faculty of Engineering, and I am sure the whole of Lebanon, will be looking forward to witnessing their continued progress as they bring their vision to life. The entire UOB community stands behind them as they take on this prestigious challenge, setting new benchmarks for future generations of engineers and innovators”.
