جامعة البلمند و«بيات» تطلقان مركز الابتكار بيات-بلمند (BBIC)
تعزيز البحث والابتكار والتنمية المستدامة في شمال لبنان
أطلقت جامعة البلمند مركز الابتكار بيات-بلمند (BBIC) في حرمها بالكورة في 30 تشرين الأول 2025، بالشراكة مع مؤسّسة بيات (BIAT) ، ليكون المنصّة الرئيسية للابتكار وريادة الأعمال ونقل التكنولوجيا في شمال لبنان.
يهدف المركز إلى تمكين الطلاب ورواد الأعمال والباحثين والمؤسّسات المحلية من تحويل أفكارهم المبتكرة إلى حلول جاهزة لتطبيقها في الأسواق. ويقدّم المركز برامج شاملة تغطي مراحل ابتكار الأفكار، والاحتواء، والتسويق التجاري، فضلاً عن إتاحة فرص التمويل، والإرشاد المتخصّص، ومساحات العمل التشاركية، ومختبرات النمذجة المتقدمة.
استُهلّ الحدث بكلمة ترحيبية من الدكتور يوسف باسيم، تلتها كلمات رئيسية ألقاها عدد من الشخصيات البارزة في مجالات المصارف والتكنولوجيا والأعمال في لبنان، من بينهم السيد نصري معوّض، رئيس مجلس إدارة بيات؛ والسيد سعد الأزهري، رئيس مجلس إدارة بنك بلوم؛ السيد حكمت أبو زيد، رئيس مجلس إدارة OMT؛ السيدة ليندا سلطان، مديرة غرفة التجارة والصناعة والزراعة في طرابلس والشمال (CCIAT) ممثّلة السيد توفيق دبوسي رئيس CCIAT؛ السيد روني شحود، مدير شركة سيسكو لبنان، واختُتمت الفعالية بكلمة للدكتور الياس وراق، رئيس جامعة البلمند.
وقد تمّ تحقيق هذه المبادرة بفضل الشراكات مع كل من بنك بلوم، وOMT، وAGROW، وCISCO، وVISA، وغرفة التجارة والصناعة والزراعة في طرابلس والشمال (CCIAT)، ومؤسّسة رينيه معوَّض (RMF) . حيث تُسهم كل جهة شريكة بخبراتها ومواردها وشبكاتها في تعزيز رسالة المركز في دعم الابتكار وريادة الأعمال في شمال لبنان. إنّ هذا التعاون المشترك يسعى إلى بناء منظومة ديناميكية تمكّن الشركات الناشئة، وتُعزّز الشمول الرقمي والمالي، وتدفع عجلة النمو الاقتصادي المستدام في المنطقة.
في كلمته، صرّح السيد معوّض قائلاً: “اليوم لا نفتتح مجرّد مركز، بل تطلق جامعة البلمند وبيات مسارًا جديدًا للابتكار والشراكة وخلق الفرص في شمال لبنان.” وأضاف: “يجمع هذا التعاون بين بيات وجامعة البلمند عالمين لا ينبغي أن تنفصلا أبدًا: الأكاديميا والابتكار، وهو ما يضفي على هذه الشراكة قوّتها وتميّزها.”
أمّا الدكتور وراق فقد أعلن: “يشكّل اجتماعنا اليوم محطة بارزة في مسيرة جامعة البلمند لتعزيز الرابط بين الأكاديميا والصناعة والمنظومة الريادية.” وأفاد: “معًا، يمكننا أن نؤسّس جيلاً من المبتكرين ونعزّز مقوّمات الصمود وأُسس الأمل، ففي جامعة البلمند نواصل دائمًا تحويل المعرفة إلى أعمال ومبادرات ملموسة.”
تُجسّد هذه المبادرة التزام جامعة البلمند المستمرّ بدعم الابتكار وريادة الأعمال وتعزيز التعاون بين الأوساط الأكاديمية والقطاع الصناعي، وهو ما يشكّل ركيزة أساسية في رسالة الجامعة لدفع التنمية المستدامة والنمو الاقتصادي في لبنان.
UOB & BIAT Launch the BIAT-Balamand Innovation Center (BBIC)
Driving Research, Innovation, and Sustainable Development in North Lebanon
The University of Balamand (UOB) launched the BIAT-Balamand Innovation Center (BBIC) at its Koura Campus on October 30, 2025. Established in partnership with BIAT, the center serves as North Lebanon’s primary hub for innovation, entrepreneurship, and technology transfer.
BBIC is dedicated to empowering students, entrepreneurs, researchers, and local businesses to transform innovative ideas into market-ready solutions. It offers comprehensive programs in ideation, incubation, and commercialization, providing access to funding opportunities, expert mentorship, collaborative workspaces, and advanced prototyping facilities.
The event opened with a welcome note from Dr. Youssef Bassim, followed by keynote addresses from prominent figures in Lebanon’s banking, technology, and business sectors, including Mr. Nasri Mouawad, Chairman of BIAT; Mr. Saad Azhari, Chairman of Blom Bank; Mr. Hikmat Abou Zeid, Chairman of OMT; Mrs. Linda Sultan, General Director of the Chamber of Commerce Industry and Agriculture of Tripoli and North Lebanon representing Mr. Toufic Dabbousi President of CCIAT; Mr. Rony Chahoud, Country Manager – Cisco Lebanon, and concluded with an address by Dr. Elias Warrak, President of the University of Balamand.
This initiative is made possible through the invaluable partnership with BLOM Bank, OMT, AGROW, CISCO, VISA, the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture of Tripoli and North Lebanon (CCIAT), and the René Moawad Foundation (RMF). Each partner brings distinct expertise, resources, and networks to strengthen BBIC’s mission of fostering innovation and entrepreneurship in North Lebanon. This collaboration enables a dynamic ecosystem that empowers startups, promotes digital and financial inclusion, and drives sustainable economic growth across the region.
Mr. Mouawad stated: “Today we are not just opening a hub, UOB and BIAT are launching a new pathway for innovation, partnership and opportunity in North Lebanon.” He added: “Together BIAT and UOB are connecting two worlds that should never be apart; academia and innovation, and that’s what is strong about this partnership.”
In his address, Dr. Warrak highlighted: “Today’s event marks a significant milestone in the ongoing journey of UOB, to strengthen the bridge between academia, industry and entrepreneurial ecosystem.” He also stated: “Together we can cultivate a generation of innovators and enhance the fundamentals of resilience and foundations of hope. At UOB we will always foster knowledge to become action.”
This initiative reflects UOB’s ongoing commitment to fostering innovation, supporting entrepreneurship, and strengthening collaboration between academia and industry, which
represents a central pillar of UOB’s mission to drive sustainable development and economic growth in Lebanon.
